About G16 Skin Repair
We are a small British company that makes one product: a glycolic and lactic acid lotion for people with ichthyosis, hyperkeratosis, keratosis pilaris and very dry, scaly skin. This page explains who we are, what the lotion is, and what we will and will not claim for it.
One product, made in the UK
G16 Ltd is based in Horsham, West Sussex. We are not a large skincare brand with a catalogue: G16 Skin Repair Lotion is the only thing we make, and it has been refined over more than fifteen years of testing individual ingredients for safety and effectiveness.
Being small shapes how we work. We answer our own emails. We have raised the price once in the last eight to ten years, because we would rather stay affordable to people who need the lotion every day than chase margin. And because we sell direct as well as through Amazon, we hear about problems quickly and can do something about them.
the formula
What is actually in it
The two active ingredients are glycolic acid (hydroxyacetic acid) and lactic acid, both alpha hydroxy acids. Glycolic acid is the second ingredient after water. They work by loosening the bonds holding built-up dead skin in place, so it lifts and comes away instead of thickening.
The rest of the formula is there so the skin underneath is looked after while that happens: aloe vera leaf juice, glycerin, rice bran oil, panthenol, vitamin E, allantoin and shea butter. It is a light lotion rather than an ointment, so it absorbs rather than sitting greasily on the skin.

What we will and will not claim
G16 Skin Repair Lotion is a cosmetic moisturiser. It lifts built-up dead skin and hydrates the skin underneath, and for a lot of people that makes a visible difference to how scaly, rough or flaky their skin looks and feels.
What it is not is a medicine, and it cannot change an inherited condition. Ichthyosis vulgaris is genetic; a lotion manages how the skin looks and feels, it does not rewrite that. It is also not formulated for harlequin ichthyosis. If your skin is broken, bleeding or infected, or if it gets worse rather than better, that is a conversation for a GP or a dermatologist, not for us.
We would rather say that plainly than oversell and disappoint someone who has already been disappointed by a lot of other products.
